Bruja or Curandera

The picture of the owl represents the allegorical figure, innocent. During the Ultima trial the prosecution tried to prove Ultima of being a bruja. Do you think that this owl could be a representation of a bruja or curandera. What features does it have to be characterized as a bruja or curandera?  How does this owl differ from the owl in the book?  How do you think Antonio would feel about this owls?

I believe that the owl is the representation of a bruja because of the Mexican folklore that proves it. As explained in the trial that my team and i WON, brujas, such as Ultima, have potential to be good. The owl is exactly how i pictured it looked in the novel. The white feathers represent innocence and purity, while the yellow eyes represent it's true nature. Many say that the eyes are the windows to the soul, and this soul is a bruja. Antonio would find comfort in this owl because it is very similar to the one associated with Ultima.

I think that the owl represents a bruja, I mean just look at the owl it looks vicious. And like AJ I was on the same team that got the victory in the trail so I obviously am going to believe that it is a symbol of a bruja. But of course the whit represents kindness and purity and those are some signs of a curandera. But I'm still sticking with the owl representing a bruja.

Like Tyler and AJ, I was on the winning team. We were on prosecution and were trying to prove that Ultima was a bruja. In our case, the owl was an important symbol used to prove that she was a bruja. Although the owls white feathers do represent things like kindness and purity, "the owl was one of the disguises a bruja took" and therefore it represents a bruja(Anaya 13). As we said in our case, a bruja isnt necassarily evil, and that may be why Ultima's owl is white, because she is a bruja, but maybe not an evil one.I think its very similar to the owl in the book because this is how i pictured it. i agree with AJ in that Antonio would find comfort in the owl, because it is similar to Ultima's owl, which comforts him
